Seattle’s Fifth Avenue theater recently debuted the Broadway hit, My Funny Valentine. It is a tale of three, young adults who let their emotions create a bizarre love triangle. The talented individuals have even ventured offstage to perform as a jazz act in select venues around the United States. Based out of Seattle, they are known as the Emerald City Trio. On Valentine’sDay, Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley presented the celebrated group. The beautifully arranged set of jazz standards were directly taken from the Broadway show.
The comprehensive marketing includes a promo CD from the performance at Jazz Alley, and designs for Fifth Avenue Theater’s website and iTunes. With romantic imagery, and the use of red velvet, the CD’s packaging was designed to represent the date of its performance, Valentine’s Day. Within the box container, a booklet includes lyrics, bios, and other liner notes about both the Broadway production and the live performance. The theater’s website carries over the same, romantic theme. There are links to purchase the soundtrack, order tickets, read bios, and stay updated on current events pertaining to the production. The iTunes page utilizes imagery from the Broadway show, features a mini-bio and performance highlights, and displays the music of how it is presented in chronological order.
